1.
Media Vita 02:12
In the midst of life we are in death From whom O Lord, but you may we seek shelter From You, O Lord, may we seek help who is justly angered at our sins? Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and merciful saviour, Do not deliver us into bitter death.
2.
Kyrie 03:10
I’d come to lift my outstretched hands, Were they not so guilty of things I should not do; the good undone. I cannot tell, is this the path to Hell? It’s paved with my intentions. I’d claim protection in your arms, But I can’t bear to see the scars. Lord, have mercy Christ, have mercy Lord, have mercy on me. How long can I stay in the dark, Hiding in the shadows, but longing for the light? The shame of hurt I caused to those who love me, Even though they see my misdemeanours.
3.
Fractures 03:02
A litany of shame and of regret, Weighed down by holy cliches round our necks and the wounds Creation’s King has borne for us. All we have are tears of pain. Did fates conspire to bring us to our knees? How can we trust, and hope, and just believe in the wounded Christ whose scars are proof of love? All we reap are seeds of doubt. What do we know of eternity – whose brief span is a moment in history? What do we know of family – whose adoption is a work of divine mystery? All we have are tears of pain. All we reap are seeds of doubt. Grant us, Jesus, tears of joy.

Almighty God, to whom our hearts and our desires are all laid bare, we cannot hide a secret thought; we lift our hearts in humble prayer. Hear our cry, O God eternal, be our shield, our strength, our song. And cleanse us with your Holy Spirit, and enfold us in your care. We do not claim our scant possessions, all we have comes from above. Teach us to see the whole Creation through the eyes of your great love. Magnify our songs of praises, let the heavenly anthem roar! For we are spent in faithful service You we worship and adore.
5.
Speak, Lord, in the darkness; the day has gone, and the night is long. Speak, Lord, to my weakness; my strength has faded with the sunset light. I will trust your promises. Give me faith to hear your voice. You will keep me, King of Kings, beneath your wings. Be here, in the darkness; you light my way in the dead of night. Be here, and stay with me: your shepherd’s call to my restless heart.

Looking at the world, with all its beauty unfurled, My eyes cannot grasp the majestic vistas displayed. Colours of every hue, lit from the sun, in the blue; And in the night we have stars in their billions arrayed. Infinite points of light illuminate the night To accent the beauty of God’s creation below. Fingerprints of the Divine, each in their place and time, Confirming the might of the Heavenly Father I know: I am Yours You are Mine. We are wonderfully made, the art of a craftsman displayed Every one of us – after the image of God. Whether we stride through our days, or stumble and shorten our pace, We seek the One who can save us by Heavenly grace. Infinite points of light illuminate the night To accent the beauty of God’s creation below. Fingerprints of the Divine, each in their place and time, Confirming the might of the Heavenly Father I know: I am Yours You are Mine. Our Scripture can paint us a picture of Grace, Words dance in the air and they offer embrace, For the dust I am made from was dust in his hair, He knows all our frailties, because he was here, It is Jesus in every verse of the Book all along! Infinite points of light illuminate the night To accent the beauty of God’s creation below. Fingerprints of the Divine, each in their place and time, Confirming the might of the Heavenly Father I know: I am Yours You are Mine.

about

Original compositions for a time of lament.

Written in acknowledgement that contemporary church in my motherland can be a bit keen to sing songs of triumph even when people are hurting, and that life isn't that simple. What do we sing when our first question begins "How Long?"

An ongoing collection. Songs will be added to this project as they are finished.
